5 concern Friday: author Laura Koerber

Laura Koerber is the author of a new book about the rescue of 124 dogs from the Olympic animal Sanctuary in Forks, Wash.

The rescue objective was brought out in 2013 by activists without any support from regional authorities.

Laura sent me a copy of her book, as well as wow, this was a story that needed to be told!

It is about a failed rescue “sanctuary,” little town politics, a consumer fraud investigation as well as little town corruption. I extremely suggest reading it.

The book “I when Was Lost, however now I’m Found: Daisy as well as the Olympic animal Sanctuary Rescue” is offered on Amazon in paperback as well as Kindle formats.

ALL PROCEEDS go to the rescues that assisted save these dogs.

Here are my five concerns with Laura Koerber:

That Mutt: exactly how can dog enthusiasts be sure the shelter or rescue they support is legitimate?

Laura: First, be empathetic to the animals there.

What is the location like from their point of view? would you be happy if you had to share living conditions with the animals? Do the animals have space to exercise, great food, interest from humans, vet care, as well as a comfortable location to sleep?

Do not accept reasons or make rationalizations.

If the administration is justifying their treatment by stating things like, “If not for me the animals would be dead,” as an reason for congested conditions, then it is not a legitimate rescue.

TM: What should a rescue or shelter do if it’s wrongly accused of animal neglect or cruelty?

Laura: Be open. let the public see the facility. invite the movie critics to see the place. Do a video tour.

TM: What’s something you believe in that other people believe is crazy?

Laura: I’m not sure about this one. I’m a quite level-headed person.

My sister, who is a psychologist, states I’m one of the sanest people she knows.

I suppose some people may believe I’m crazy since I am vegan, don’t buy anything made from leather, bone or other animal parts, as well as inspect labels to prevent buying things that were tested on animals.

TM: Do your dogs sleep in your bed?

Laura: No space for our German shepherd mix, as well as our new dog (an elderly Shih tzu) has not believed about getting up in the bed with us. I suppose we will let him, when he does believe of it.

TM: Is there anything you’d like to share keeping that Mutt’s readers?

Laura: say thanks to you for whatever you do that is kind to animals.

Thank you, Laura!
