Summer is for reading

One of my favorite summer pleasures is spending time outside with a good book. Whether it’s on my deck, in a sidewalk cafe, or a park, there’s just something about reading outdoors that makes one of my favorite pastimes even much more special. I like to read a lot of different genres, but of course, a large part of my summer reading list is made up of cat books.

You can find plenty of ideas for your reading list in the book section on this site. Today, I’m sharing a couple of favorites that make for terrific summer reading.

If you haven’t read Nic Tatano’s Confessions of an Angel Cat, what are you waiting for? This stunning story about Murphy the cat, whose project is to help Maggie Ryan, a seriously ill teenage girl who is on the verge of giving up, is entertaining, heartwarming and inspirational, and it will stay with you long after you turned the final page. Confessions of an Angel cat is available from Amazon.

Even though Sci-Fi and fantasy are not genres I read a lot, I was completely captivated by weather Menders. In this climate change fiction story, the fate of humanity and many of Earth’s species falls squarely on the shoulders of an immensely likeable cast of human characters and a small gray cat, Georgie, who shows a unexpected aptitude for telepathy. I could not put this book down, and at the same time, I didn’t want it to end. The story is incredible, the writing is luminant, and the depth of the material is breathtaking. give this book a chance even if it’s outside of the range of what you typically read. weather Menders is available from Amazon.

And just to mix  things up, this is one of my (so far) favorite non-cat books of the summer. This ideal light summer read from the author of The Devil wears Prada about three friends, an image specialist to the stars, a former very model turned senator’s wife, and a former high-powered attorney turned stay-at-home mom, will keep you turning the pages as you follow the drama and follies of the uber-wealthy in a Connecticut suburb of Manhattan. When Life gives You Lululemons is available from Amazon.

What are you reading this summer?
